Guidelines and Rubric: The Developmental Matrix is essentially a table that illustrates the interaction of specific developmental abilities across six domains, from birth through adolescence. A template for the assignment is provided below. For each age range you will need to provide significant developmental milestones that occur in each domain. Cognitive Reasoning skills, thinking skills, perception, brain development, ability to acquire knowledge or gain meaning from experiences…Piaget’s theory must be represented here. Physical/Motor Can include fine motor, gross motor, physical development, body changes… Communication Can include articulation, expressive language, receptive language, vocabulary development, social communication, written communication… Self-help What skills a child can do for him/herself. Also known as adaptive skills, daily living skills, functional skills, or independent living skills. It may be as simple as holding a bottle while feeding, or as complicated as applying for a job or driving a car…. Personal/Emotional Development of personality, identity, emotional skills/control…Erikson’s theory must be represented here. Moral/Social Development of sense of right/wrong, ethics, social skills and social interactions with peers/family….Kohlberg’s theory must be represented here. SOURCES: Remember, this is a research process, so poll a number of sources to cover each domain/age. Instead of using the regular APA citation process for this assignment, simply place a number in parentheses in each cell after the information is listed and then provide a references page (in APA format) will the full citation. A complete matrix will need to include 10 sources at a minimum. Please use MS Word to construct your matrix. Do not use Excel or another format to complete this project.
